Our Story: Heart and Quality

The Name

Every time we left the house, my daughter would point and give a giddy announcement: "I saw a dog!" That pure, joyful phrase became the ultimate inspiration for our name, Saw Dog Woodworking. But the inspiration didn't stop there. This business was built on the shoulders of both my wife and daughter. Without their unwavering love, patience, and support, Saw Dog Woodworking would still just be a dream in the garage.

Built From Necessity, Grown with Passion

In 2006, my woodworking journey began out of pure necessity. We had just bought our first home and were desperate to phase out the haphazard, prefab "dumpster fodder" that seems to furnish every twenty-something's apartment.

It all started with a single coffee table.

From that first successful build, more furniture began to emerge. Soon, friends were making requests for their own homes. Then came my wife’s colleagues, neighbors, and friends of friends. As the years passed and the waitlist grew, I realized something undeniable; this wasn't just a hobby anymore. It was a calling.

Twenty Years of Quality

Today, two decades after this journey began, that very first coffee table still holds a prominent, proud place in our living room. It has survived moves, daily life, and the test of time. That is the exact standard of durability and care I build into every single project that leaves my shop.
